Skeptical Chymist: Authentically Irish!

img_0618

As the story goes, the Road Bandits were in the midst of shooting the folf video.  The tripod was setup outside of the RV, Randy was practicing his lines, and Will was waiting inside for his queue, Acapulco shirt and all.  Along came a young couple that was interested in the Road Bandit project.  We chit-chatted for a bit and gave them the inside scoop on the glorious lifestyle of a Road Bandit!  It turned out that Trevor (who spoke with a thick Irish accent) is the owner of Skeptical Chymist, an Irish bar the serves authentic Irish cuisine.  He handed us a gift card and asked us to stop on by when we got a chance.  Thirsty for cold beer and good food, we rallied to Skeptical Chymist the very next night.  Awesome place!  It’s too bad we hadn’t run into them earlier.  Will’s birthday on Saturday would have been a HOOT!   Apparently Starsky, from Starsky and Hutch, made an appearance that night. Plus, there was a live band playing!  UHG!  There’s always next year, right?

To tell a little bit about the bar itself, the light blue exterior is fashioned to look like an early 20th century Irish pub, and the interior is no exception.  Dark, worn hardwood floors, wooden stools, barrels serving as tables, outdoor seating with bar service, and a huge collection of Irish whiskeys are just a few of the well arranged elements that create the genuine Irish feel of the pub.  To give you all a taste of the food, Will had a Rueben sandwich that used REAL corned beef, direct from the stovetop—not that flat packaged BS.  That’s a first!  Other menu items included Shepherd’s Pie, Corned Beef & Cabbage, Irish Cocktail Sausages (served with mango ketchup and an awesome whiskey infused mustard), and other more modern Irish dishes.

If you’re ever in the Scottsdale, AZ area, definitely check this gem out!

    Hey Guys,
Love your site and your antics. We’re fulltimers on the road with a different twist. Due to that we have 5500 readers. If you would add our website to your blogroll , we’ll do the same and give you some traffic and hellacious stories and places to visit. We’re heading West now from Tennessee to bathe in the Hot Springs of Arkansas. Perhaps our paths will cross.
