MMA BADASS

MMA, commonly called “UFC” by newbies and girls alike, stands for Mixed Martial Arts and it’s really Badass! So who better than to be my first Road Bandit online interview than founder and amateur fighter Keith Talarico of MMABADASS.com

First off, what is MMABadass and where is it going?

Keith: mmabadass.com for now is a blog on my thoughts on whats going on in mma. There is a lot that is not said and i think certain things should be said as far as where it’s going, i want my readers to be thebadasses. they make their picks for every major event. It’s a place for their voice to be heard. I hope to turn mmabadass.com into a brand with a clothing line and partnerships with other gyms clothing etc..

Nice, kinda like the Tapout guys?

Keith Not exactly, for me mmabadass is more about the fans, the voices that aren’t heard on the TV. There are a lot of fans out there that know a lot about the sport, for now my site is their voice. I want them to argue with me and prove me wrong.

Having trained and fought in the past, what would you like to see with MMA in the next 5-10 years?

Keith: I would like to see mma become the sport that all the hardcore fans already know it is…the most popular in the world. Think about it, we call all of our major sports champions world champions, butmma is the only sport out there right now that is truly international. It doesn’t matter where you are from or what is popular in your culture, because all cultures love fighting.

Ohhh so true!…Ok so next week is a major fight between professional boxer James Toney and former UFC Champion Randy Couture. Why is this so big and what do you expect is going to happen?

Keith: This is so big because boxing has been saying that mma fighters aren’t talented. No one in mma was doggin’ boxing. Boxing felt threatened by mma because they saw their ppv dollars decreasing because people are now buying mma ppv’s over boxing ppv’s. I think we are going to see Randy Couture implement a great gameplan (like he always does) stay out of James Toney’s range, take him down and demonstrate why mma fighters are the better athletes by pounding Toney into submission!

My money is on Couture…us Randy’s stick together

Keith: everybody’s $ is on Couture!

Is there a place in MMA for women and do you see them ever getting a chance to fight in the UFC?

Keith: Absolutely, Bellator 24 show cased some great womens mma last night. As far as it being in the UFC, I think Dana is going to want to see more quality fighters . Right now there are about 5-10 quality fighter beating up on under qualified women fighters.

I am personally a fan of chick fights…It’s hot stuff! But seriously, some of these woman are beasts and I can’t wait to see someone whoop up on Cyborg.

Keith: It might be a while for that to happen, remember she trains at Chuteboxe, one of the best camps in the world!

Ok so I am 6’8″ and would love to hear your thoughts on what would happen to me if we got in the cage for 3 rounds :)

Keith: Your limbs would be in trouble after I got past your reach to take you down!

Yeah if you got me on the ground I would turtle up and scream RAPE!…

Get Inspired This Weekend

Tony Robbins and NBC just released four more full episodes of the recently canceled show “Breakthrough.”

The show “Breakthrough” is about motivation and inspiration as Tony Robbins deals with unique stories of despair and hardships in people’s lives. He gives people thirty days to turn their lives around and guides them towards achieving a richer and more fulfilled life than they ever thought possible.

Do yourself a favor this weekend and put down the remote,put on your headphones and get inspired!

Do You Trust Yourself?

Life has its ups and downs and for someone who doesn’t learn from those downs he or she will surely have less ups in the long run. But what about taking risks, going for the gold, risking it all and listening to nobody but yourself?

Everyone is after “absolute certainty.” Everyone wants to keep living, avoid pain and get as much pleasure out of life as they can. Taking risks for some people is an elective course in life that they feel can be skipped.

I am here to tell you it’s not the risks but the trust in one’s self that separates the good lives from the great ones.

Do you know why so many people are so negative all the time? Why it is that even your family members will say to you that you can’t or that you will fail if you try?

It’s because they don’t trust and believe that they can do it. So therefore, if you end up being successful, then in their eyes they are the failure.

When I first hit the road I had no backup plan, no safety net and no second thoughts.

It was Randy vs. The Road!

Am I scared? Sometimes.

Do I know what’s going to happen next? Lol. I wish.

Is Road Bandit going to be a success? You bet your sweet ass it will be!

The one thing that I believe separates me from the Joe Shmoes out there hoping for success while still keeping everything easy and safe is this…I will always trust myself to get back up when I fall and my success will come from the belief that I can achieve anything and everything as long as I always trust myself to follow through.

Patiently Building Momentum

The Road Bandit Project is picking up steam but it hasn’t been easy. I feel like each time Roadbandit.com takes a dive and I stop producing videos and posts I let down a bunch of fans.

Like I have said many a time before… problems with money and motivation may slow me down but will never stop me.

It’s August 11^th, 2010 and at the end of this month I will have completed the “Super Sober Challenge” and posted thirty-one times in thirty-one days. I know with all the wide gaps of time between posts I have lost some viewership. It’s ok, because I am going to win you back and this time it’ll be for good.

Each day now I am spending more time on Road Bandit and with each new post I am building momentum towards a special new Re-Launch that will rock your socks off! I know the viewership and comments are down right now, but that will all soon change.

My goal is to get more acquainted with my fans and bring out the interactive part of Road Bandit I have been striving for. If you’re a fan of the Bandit and want to help see me get to the next level, all you gotta do is one thing…share!

Share your favorite Road Bandit posts or videos with your friends. Share your comments with me when you like or dislike my posts and most importantly, share with me your input on where I should go and what I should cover. ProperMonkey Photography

Since hitting the road in April of 2008 I have met some really cool and talented people. On the top of that list would have to be Casey Fessler of ProperMonkey Photography. This guy has the passion and the skills to take any picture, in any situation and make it look amazing!

All the amazing photos you’ve seen on Road Bandit are the work of the one and only Casey Fessler. He has not only been a great contributor to the Road Bandit project but also one of the reasons I am still on the road. Casey and his fiancée Allison have helped me through some rough times while trying to survive in Las Vegas. During the crazy hot summers and freezing cold winters, they opened their doors to Bird and I, allowing us to keep on trucking.

Thank you guys so much for all that you have done for me over the years. I wouldn’t be where I am today without people like you two in my life.

Sober In Seattle

I’m nine days into my super sober August and so far it’s been EPIC! I have been more productive than the last two months combined and I can’t even imagine what the rest of the month will bring.

Before I hit the road and started Banditing it up, I was a freelance videographer up in Seattle, Washington working for over a dozen production companies including: ESPN, ABC and Fox Sports Net. So of course when I was offered to work a couple of Seattle Mariners games this past weekend I jumped at the chance. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to come to work at a Major League Baseball game. Every time I’m there I have a huge smile on my face and feel like a kid again.

Hit A Chick…Get Your Ass Kicked

So this last week I was forced to watch a TMZ video and it was EPIC! The Video involved Roger Huerta, a former UFC Fighter. Roger was involved in a street fight in Austin, Texas when a guy decided to sucker punch a chick right in front of him. Seconds after the chick was hit, Roger approached the man, words were spoken and then fists were thrown.

I don’t condone violence outside of the octagon and I was told that “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind,” but in this case… kick that dudes ass Roger!

ChatRoulette – Use With Caution

First off, have you heard of ChatRoulette.com? If not, brace yourself because you’re in for one crazy ride.

ChatRoulette.com was created by Andrey Ternovskiy, a 17-year-old high school student in Moscow, Russia. He got the idea from messing around on video chats onSkype and then created the program in less than three days.

He got the name ChatRoulette after watching The Deer Hunter, a 1978 film set in the Vietnam War in which prisoners of war are forced to play Russian roulette.

Unlike most new websites, ChatRoulette.com took off quickly and once South Park aired a parody of it on season 14 episode “You Have 0 Friends” it became huge.

But with it’s new found popularity also came…well, a bunch of dicks!

No seriously, the odds were like one in ten that you were going to meet someone who wasn’t jerking it.

But now there is hope. With a new system in place that works when three users have complained about the same participant within five minutes, that user is then banned from the service for 10–40 minutes.

So this hopefully will get rid of all the dicks, but not all the awesomeness!

Own Your Moment!

Everyone can, but not everyone will. When the moment comes chances are you will either crap your pants and freeze up, or go for the glory and give it all you’ve got; there is no in between. Either you own it, or you lose it! I’ve met people who go for it all and others who will probably never make even the slightest of attempts.

Then there’s this classy cat named Jeremy Fry.

While attending a Celtics Basketball game in 2009 Jeremy was sitting in his seat waiting for the timeout to get over and the game to continue.

Now, I know from my experiences working NBA games that some timeouts can be quite long, due mainly to TV timeouts. During this long break the Celtic arena started playing Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” to pump up the crowd and give fans a chance to get on the JumboTron.

I have only had my hand make it up on the JumboTron during, a now extinct, Seattle Sonic’s game and to be honest, it was pretty exciting.

But for Jeremy, a simple wave of the hand or a shake of the hips wasn’t his style. Once he noticed he was on the JumboTron and Jovi’s first lyrics hit his ears, the moment was his to own.

Now, the director could have switched to another camera at any time… but he didn’t! Jeremy grabbed this moment and with a sideways, double leg tap in mid-air, now known in Road Bandit terms as a “Jovi,” landed on the ground.He knew it was time to own his moment and let the whole world know “you gotta hold on to what you’ve got!”

Picking Up My Pieces

Another night I won't remember

Randy Dumpty sat on the wall, Randy Dumpty had a big fall. All the bandits fans and all the bandits best men, couldn’t put Randy Dumpty back together again.

An old ass poem with many meanings will get us started on another fun filled post about the daily struggles of a Road Bandit.

The poem Humpty Dumpty teaches me two things. One is what goes up must come down and the other is that everyone around you can try as hard as they want to help but in the end its up to you and you alone to pick yourself up and get back on that wall.

Right now I am up in Washington where I have spent 20 of my 26 yrs of living. I have tons of awesome friends here and a majority of my family resides here as well. It’s a perfect place to be in the summer and a cold and miserable one in the winter.

I’ve been up here in Washington for little over 3 weeks trying to iron out some business plans and also working on draining out all the negative practices that have been reoccurring while out on the road.

The negative practices I’m talking about our shitty work ethic, poor financial practices, over eating, over drinking and over sleeping.

Its time for a change and its up to me and only me to make them. All the suggestions and support in the world won’t do anything to a person who isn’t willing to change.

So the first step to changing bad habits is to start good ones. Goodbye alcohol! Hello 6-8 hrs of sleep and healthy meals. He comes focused and energized days with a financial plan that will keep this Bandit on the road for as long as I want.

Tony Robbins once said “If you can’t, you must. If you must, you can” and this Bandit must change!
